because they're reducing redundancy and wasteful spending. They'll be doing a lot more in the company over the next 2 weeks. Supposedly complete management reshuffling. Almost every major company is doing this right now.

2 development studios making 2 games will have redundancy in management over 1 studio with twice as many grunt workers making 2 games.

They also have to deal with what happens when the creativity runs out. something like 90% of games aren't profitab...

"Name on part that was spin"

"While the 360 did gain ground on its rival Sony’s PS3. This is all attributed to the price drop."

firstly, this implies the 360 was behind. Secondly, who gives a d@mn what it was attributed to? It did. The only reason the giants won super bowl 25 was because the bills missed a field goal. Guess what! The giants still lost the super bowl.

It's not like they're suddenly going to raise the price back up agai...

where did you see the PS3 outsold the 360 this year?

edit: @below "1.3 lazy one...He didn't say it sold more and was reffering to more than last year PS3 sales. "

"Even thou the ps3 sold more hardware this year"

so either he means THIS year (09), in which there are no major released sales, not that they'd be significant anyway since it's january, OR he means this last year (08), in which there is no solid evidence that sony has outsol...

If you rent from gamefly (9-20 bucks a month depending on plan) you don't pay full price for the game if you want to keep it. So, you pay 14 bucks for the service, and $45 for the game, that just about evens out if you bought every game you rented, and if you don't, you save a lot of money on games you would have spent $60 on.

Renting is the way to go. tbh.

That said, the words in reviews are good. (quick edit here)They help people learn about specifically what is go...

You just can't compare a visual programming language to a game with a level creating toolset.

The article, as well as a majority of the people in here are completely ignorant as to what kodu is, and what it's going to be used for.

One is a game with a system for sharing user generated content. One is a visual programming language. You shouldn't even really be comparing them at all.

with backwards compatibility updates.

They aren't updating as fast as they did originally, but they still update. They usually do about one per year, but they don't announce it that often, so unless the press checks the site, you probably won't hear about it without checking yourself.

here's the official list:

it sold pretty well, it just seemed like it didn't because almost everyone got it in a bundle with that and that one sega racing game (forgot the name).

Sweet game though. I think you can get it for like a dollar at used game stores.

it's a visual programming language for making games.

Little big planet is a platformer with a robust level editor. This is not a level editor. Go look up Alice from Carnegie Melon. It's a similar thing, except that it probably won't suck as much as Alice.

Take a flippin business course. Christ.

you go into debt when you take out loans. Those you have to pay back. If you spend your own money, there is no reason to pay it back.

If you have a buck in your wallet and you buy a candybar, do you need to make a dollar back to not be in debt a buck? no. At least I'd hope not, because you're paying twice as much for everything.

Microsoft's xbox division (xbox, not entertainment and devices as a whole) is one of it's best divisions right now.

here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

read that thread.

Also who said "hundreds of millions of households"?

sony has been posting a 1+ billion dollar loss in each of the past 2 quarters (years).

edit: years... my bad. 07/08. It's down 300k so far in fiscal 09.

if you think M$ and apple (probably IBM and a couple others too) aren't investing heavily in cloud computing.

I know for a fact microsoft is, because they spent most of their CES keynote talking about it, and had a special feature 2 years ago about it.

why did you put "buzz" in quotes when he never said buzz?

6363d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

you can also ignore the fact that the xbox part of the entertainment and devices division is actually the best part.

The zune and games for windows live teams were the worst, and that's where the bulk of the cuts were made. Also in RnD and IT.

There's plenty of links with Balmer's email to the company if you google it, and he says where most of the jobs are coming from. Of those 5,000, approximately 2,000 are going to get rehired in other divisions of M$.
